DAV Chapter 12 Members, We are officially confirming that a special PSA with a visiting congressman will take place on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 10:30 AM in support of the Major Richard Star Act. We are asking our members to attend, wear their DAV gear, and demonstrate our chapter’s commitment to supporting disabled veterans and protecting their earned benefits. Why your attendance matters: 1. Support combat-injured veterans. The Major Richard Star Act would allow eligible military retirees with combat-related disabilities to receive their full military retirement pay and VA disability compensation without the current offset. 2. Raise awareness of an important veterans’ issue. Understanding the legislation helps us explain how current benefit rules affect eligible veterans who were medically retired before completing 20 years of service. 3. Demonstrate unity as DAV Chapter 12. Our participation shows that we remain engaged in issues affecting our veterans and are committed to representing our organization with professionalism and respect. Please take a few minutes to educate yourself about the Major Richard Star Act before attending. You can read DAV’s official statement here: https://www.dav.org/learn-more/news/2026/dav-statement-on-major-richard-star-act/ We also ask everyone to approach this event with a positive, respectful, and constructive attitude. Our goal is to represent DAV Chapter 12 and our veteran community in a manner that reflects the organization’s mission and values. Anyone who anticipates engaging in disrespectful behavior or unnecessary confrontation should respectfully refrain from attending. Let’s come together, support our fellow veterans, and demonstrate what DAV stands for. Additional chapter information is available at DAVChapter12.org. Thank you for your continued service, participation, and commitment to our veterans. Respectfully, DAV Chapter 12 Leadership Disabled American Veterans https://www.dav.org/learn-more/news/2026/dav-statement-on-major-richard-star-act/
